MonoLab Studio
UI/UX website design for a global multidisciplinary design and architecture firm
Task
Design and develop a website
MonoLab Studio needed a new website with goals of increasing business opportunities and appealing to more corporate and commercial clients.
To inform an effective design, we conducted research. We studied websites of other design firms in content, design, and experiences, from which to draw lessons and find opportunities for MonoLab. We interviewed client developers to understand their behaviours and preferences when shortlisting a design firm for project opportunities. We also evaluated a visual mockup MonoLab gave for potential usability issues and later validated them with the developers.
Two key insights were gathered: (1) A website’s content is most important (more than its design, features and functions) — specifically, projects, team information, and blog articles. (2) Client users want to find and consume information quickly and effectively off a design firm’s website.
Informed by research, we worked with MonoLab on content strategy and development, and a design that is straightforward and user-friendly while maintaining the firm’s design aesthetic.
We developed wireframes and prototypes in determining the most effective responsive design, and tested them with client developer users. 4 rounds of design iterations were made to produce the final high-fidelity website.
